Germany, Poland, and Ukraine to create a hub for repair of Leopard tanks

Germany, Poland, and Ukraine have signed an agreement on the creation of a hub for the repair of Leopard tanks damaged in battles with the Russian invasion forces, Reuters reports.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius told reporters during a Ramstein format meeting that Berlin, Warsaw, and Kyiv have signed an agreement on the joint creation of a Leopard tank repair base, which can begin work as early as the end of May.

According to him, an agreement has been reached on how this repair base will be financed and that the costs of its support will amount to 150-200 million euros per year.

Pistorius also commented on plans to invite Ukraine to join NATO and said that everyone "sees Ukraine as a future member of the Alliance", but for now the main focus should be on military support for Ukraine.

On April 12, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles said that Spain plans to send the first six promised Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine in the coming days.

On April 14, eight Leopard 2 tanks, which Canada pledged to transfer to Ukraine, arrived in Poland.
