Ukraine has experienced its largest cyber attack on state registries in recent times, according to Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice Olga Stefanishyna.

The attack, aimed at disrupting critical state infrastructure, has temporarily halted the operation of key registries.

"Together with the team and specialists from other services, we are coordinating work to counter the cyberattack and restore the systems. It is already clear that the attack was carried out by the Russians to disrupt the critical infrastructure of the state," Stefanishyna said.

The justice minister stated that the recovery of primary registries could take up to two weeks, but there is no threat to the functioning of other resources.

The official emphasized that the attack was directed from outside and temporarily suspended the operation of the Unified and State Registries, which are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice.

Specialists are working in an enhanced mode to gradually restore access to the registries. The priority is to restore the following registries:

→ State Registry of Civil Status Acts of Citizens,

→ Unified State Registry of Legal Entities and Sole Proprietors,

→ State Registry of Property Rights and Their Encumbrances.

On December 20, Ukrainians will be informed about the specifics of service provision during this period.

Once the registries are fully restored, a thorough analysis of the attack will be conducted to strengthen future defenses, Stefanishyna added.

"We have the situation under control and are doing everything necessary to restore the operation of all services as quickly as possible. The enemy is trying to use this situation in their information operations to sow panic among the citizens of Ukraine and abroad," the minister said.

On December 19, it was reported that a large-scale failure occurred in Ukraine at the level of the network infrastructure serving the registries.

On the same day, a technical failure was reported in the Reserve+ military application, making it impossible to use it.
