Drone attack on Kyiv repelled overnight, building caught fire - authorities

Twelve Russian kamikaze drones were taken down over Kyiv in the course of an attack on Tuesday night, with falling debris setting a non-residential building ablaze.

According to the Kyiv city military administration, air defence forces detected and destroyed 12 enemy Shahed-136 and Shahed-131 unmanned aerial vehicles.

Drone wreckage fell in the Sviatoshynskyi district of the capital, causing a fire in a non-residential building, which was soon extinguished.

The state emergency service of Ukraine added that a three-storey administrative building was hit, with building structures in the area of 200 square meters destroyed.

"Two fires also broke out covering 70 square metres in total, which firefighters quickly extinguished," the emergency service added.

No casualties or injuries have been reported.

Air raid sirens were declared in many Ukrainian regions overnight, including in Kyiv. Explosions were also reported in the city of Dnipro, with no casualties as well.

In total, according to the General Sfaff of Ukraine's Armed Forces, 14 out of 15 Russian drones were downed in the course of the night attack.
