The allies are not giving Ukraine F-16 fighter jets, in particular because of fears that Russia will be able to seize certain components, President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, said on the air of local radio, České noviny reports.

According to him, Ukraine needs aviation to prepare for the decisive phase of the war against Russia.

He noted that Western allies do not transfer modern fighter jets, as preparation for their operation takes a long time.

Pavel says that the West's decision is also hindered by the presence of secret components in their planes, and Ukraine's partners do not want these devices to fall into the hands of Russia.

"But I know that negotiations are continuing. As a result, Ukraine may receive several F-16s, possibly with a dismantled part of this equipment," the Czech president said.
On May 2, Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat stated that these fighters could solve the problem of Russian bombing once and for all.

According to him, the future air defense system of Ukraine should consist of four main short- and medium-range air defense systems, short-range air defense systems of the Ground Forces and F-16 aircraft.

The Pentagon previously opposed the provision of F-16s to Ukraine.
