Zelenskyy appoints former Yanukovych case prosecutor Kravchenko as Kyiv regional governor

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Ruslan Kravchenko as the head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, according to the corresponding decree published on the website of the head of state.

On April 7, the government approved the appointment of Kravchenko as the new head of the Kyiv Oblast State Administration.

After the invasion of Russia in 2014, Kravchenko worked in the military prosecutor's office under the leadership of Anatoliy Matios, who was fired in the fall of 2019, and the military justice body itself was dissolved. Kravchenko was also a prosecutor in the treason case against ex-president Viktor Yanukovych.

Already during the full-scale war, on August 23, 2022, Kravchenko was awarded the III class Order of Merit.

On January 24, 2023, Zelenskyy appointed the former Kyiv regional governor Oleksiy Kuleba, as deputy head of the Office of the President. Kuleba headed the Kyiv Oblast State Administration from May 21, 2022 to January 24, 2023.

In 2018, Kravchenko said that a Mossad analog was needed to get Yanukovych out of the Russian Federation.

Since 2021, Kravchenko was at the helm of the Bucha district prosecutor's office in Kyiv Oblast.

In 2023, he applied for the position of director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. After the integrity interviews, he failed to proceed in the competition. Kravchenko says that he "doesn't know the specific reasons and grounds", and called such a decision "non-objective and biased".
