Repairs of Ukrainian T-64 tanks begin in Poland. Leopards next in line
As part of the agreement between the Ukrainian defense enterprise Ukroboronprom and the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa concern, a hub for the repair of T-64 tanks was opened at the Bumar-Łabędy plant in Poland, PGZ reported.
In the future, it should be possible to repair Leopard tanks there too.
Bumar-Labędy and Ukrobronprom jointly created a technical center that will handle the repair of T-64 tanks, their maintenance, maintenance of combat capability and restoration to full working condition, PGZ writes.
Reportedly, in addition to repairing the T-64, the hub plans to repair the T-72 and RT-91, which Poland handed over to Ukraine, in the future. The possibility of servicing Leopard tanks, which are in service in Ukraine thanks to international allies, is also being considered.
On March 14, 2023, the Ministry of Defense announced that Ukroboronprom began manufacturing 125-mm shells for tank guns abroad in partnership with one of the NATO countries.
On April 6, Ukraine agreed on the production of 125 mm tank shells in Poland.
