Following the call between Trump and Zelenskyy, Head of the Office Yermak spoke with Secretary of State Rubio
Following the telephone conversation between Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump, Chief of Presidential Office Andriy Yermak had a call with Secretary of State Marko Rubio. The head of the Ukrainian negotiating delegation reported this on his social media.
"The main attention was paid to the issue of the ceasefire and the prospects for a peace settlement. We specifically focused on the importance of implementing the points agreed upon by our presidents," the official noted.
Also, Yermak added, the parties "highly appreciated" the ratification by the Verkhovna Rada of the resource agreement between Ukraine and the United States.
During the conversation, Ukraine was also represented by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and special representatives Keith Kellogg and Steve Witkoff were present on the US side.
This was the first communication between the Ukrainian side and Rubio after he was appointed as Trump's national security advisor.
- On the evening of May 8, Trump and Zelensky had a telephone conversation: the latter once again confirmed that Ukraine was ready for a 30-day ceasefire "at least starting today" and expected Russia to agree to this proposal.
After the call, the US leader once again called for a ceasefire and threatened sanctions.
- On the same day, Trump had a conversation with Macron – the French president stated that his country, together with all Europeans and in close coordination with the United States, would be ready to "respond decisively" if Russia did not agree to a 30-day ceasefire.
