Foreign Minister explains why Ukraine is participating in the negotiations despite the lack of compromise
Ukraine wants to end the war, so it is participating in the negotiation process, despite the lack of compromise on the part of the parties. This was announced on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, answering the correspondent's question LIGA.net.
"We need to end the war. Ukraine wants to end the war. We must work together, and we are now in the moment, to bring a just and sustainable peace to Ukraine," the head of Ukrainian diplomacy said.
Sybiha added that there is a diplomatic way to resolve conflicts, so it is important that it is used as much as possible.
That is why negotiating teams have been created that have the appropriate mandate, that have the appropriate directives, and that clearly understand what tasks they face and what the national interest is, he said.
Answering another question, the Foreign Minister emphasized that after two rounds of negotiations of the Ukrainian, American and Russian delegations in Abu Dhabi, "progress has been made."
- On February 17-18, Geneva will host a new round of negotiations with the participation of Ukraine, Russia and the United States.
- During the talks in Abu Dhabi on February 4-5 the parties reached an agreement on the exchange of prisoners, and methods of implementing and monitoring the ceasefire were also discussed.
