The Security Service of Ukraine detained an employee of a commercial bank in Kyiv. The man is suspected of transferring personal data of the Defense Forces and military volunteers to Russia, the press service of the SBU.

According to law enforcement officers, a 40-year-old employee of the bank's information security department collected personal data of the financial institution's clients, namely military and military volunteers, for the enemy.

The occupiers could have used this data to prepare terrorist attacks, information sabotage and recruitment operations against Ukrainian defenders.

According to the case, the bank employee came to the attention of Russians because of his activity on a banned social network.

He allegedly received "test" tasks from his supervisor to conduct additional reconnaissance near the base of the Defense Forces in Kyiv.

To do this, according to the SBU, the banker went around the area on weekends and took pictures of buildings that he believed could be used by Ukrainian defenders. Later, he was tasked with collecting information about the financial institution's clients, including military personnel and volunteers who opened accounts to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

He was also supposed to give the occupiers the coordinates of a backup data center that stores the bank's database and its users, law enforcement officials said.

The SBU documented the man's correspondence and detained him at his place of residence.

During the search, they seized four smartphones, removable SIM cards "for conspiracy", and three laptops on which he could "accumulate personal data of potential 'targets'". The SBU also claims to have found contacts with the FSB on the gadgets.
