A woman who, according to the investigation, was spying for the State Security Committee of Belarus (KGB) was exposed and detained in Kyiv. About reported The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

The special operation was carried out by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine.

According to intelligence, the 35-year-old woman tried to infiltrate one of the DIU units. However, she was exposed and detained in Kyiv. The woman was served a notice of suspicion of espionage.

As part of the special operation, which lasted several months, the SBU and the GUR documented the crimes and played an operational game with the woman – they provided her with disinformation under the guise of secret data.

The GUR claims that the woman had been working for the Belarusian KGB since 2015. In 2020, she was sent to the territory of Ukraine, and by this time she was already on the SBU's radar. The cover was journalistic activity – after working for the sanctioned channel 112, the woman got a job at one of the leading Ukrainian media outlets.

Then, on the orders of her supervisor, under the legend of the need for a medical examination, the woman left for additional training in one of the European Union countries. She was instructed by intelligence officers to collect information about Belarusians and Russians fighting on the side of Ukraine.

The suspect was also supposed to establish contacts with employees of the Chinese Embassy in Kyiv to collect information about the activities of Chinese diplomats in Ukraine. The SBU also recorded attempts to select potential candidates for recruitment into the KGB's agent apparatus.

During the search, the woman's smartphone and a voice recorder, which she used to collect classified data, were seized. She was served a notice of suspicion of espionage and is currently in custody. The suspect faces up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
