The next few days will be difficult in terms of electricity, with Kyiv having power for a limited time only. These are the consequences of the major Russian attack on Ukraine on February 7 reported Ministry of Energy.

"️After the latest massive shelling by the Russian Federation, the situation in the country's energy system remains extremely difficult. The enemy attacked power facilities in a number of regions. Due to damage to high-voltage substations, nuclear power plants were forced to unload. Currently, emergency blackouts are still in effect in most regions," reported by the agency following the results of a meeting of the Headquarters for the elimination of the consequences of emergencies in the capital and the region.

The Energy Ministry reported that the situation with electricity remains "extremely difficult."

→ as a result of the Russian attack, power was lost, and an additional significant electricity shortage arose, which is extremely difficult to compensate for;

→ because of this, "the coming days will be difficult";

→ currently, Kyiv residents receive electricity only for a short time – one and a half to two hours (energy holding DTEK writes that for such a period of time the light is supplied per day. – Ed;)

→ experts are working on balancing the system, and the capital is deploying additional resilience hubs in each district to support residents;

→ all damaged facilities are undergoing restoration work: "Power engineers are doing everything possible to restore electricity and heat to consumers as soon as possible."

DTEK adds that the system is operating with maximum restrictions: "The usual schedules do not work. The most difficult situation is in Kyiv."

  • During the attack on February 7, Moscow used 408 drones and 39 missiles – the defenders succeeded to counteract 382 and 24, respectively
  • Among the targets of the occupiers was the infrastructure on which the functioning of nuclear power plants depends – substations and power lines. As a result of the attacks, Ukrainian nuclear power plants reduced generation, at the same time, one of them was automatically turned off.
