US President Donald Trump has once again called for a ceasefire in the Russian-Ukrainian war and threatened Russia with sanctions. He wrote about it on his social network Truth Social after a phone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy .

"Negotiations with Russia/Ukraine are ongoing. The U.S. is calling for an ideally 30-day unconditional ceasefire. We hope that an acceptable ceasefire will be respected and both countries will be held accountable for upholding the sanctity of these direct negotiations," Trump wrote.

If the ceasefire is not respected, the United States and partners will impose further sanctions, the US President assured.

He once again emphasized that "thousands of young soldiers are dying every week," referring in this context to both Ukrainian and Russian soldiers.

"As president, I will remain committed to securing peace between Russia and Ukraine together with the Europeans, and it will be a lasting peace! This ceasefire should eventually lead to a peace agreement. All of this can be done very quickly, and I will be available at any time if my services are needed," he added .

Before that, they last spoke at Pope Francis' funeral on April 26 – when they had a face-to-face meeting in Rome, the first since the Oval Office dispute Zelenskiy called the phone conversation "good" and informed Trump that Ukraine is ready for a 30-day ceasefire, even from today xml-ph-0012@deepl.interna .
