Ukraine is revising the list of critical infrastructure facilities to free up electricity – Shmyhal
Ukraine is changing the list of critical facilities to provide additional electricity to household consumers. About this reported first deputy prime minister – minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal following a meeting of the specialized Headquarters.
"We are also reviewing the list of critical infrastructure facilities. Hospitals, water utilities, and social facilities remain an absolute priority – they will be supplied with electricity first," the official said.
According to the minister, other institutions will gradually be switched to autonomous operation and provided with generators, which will free up more electricity for citizens.
Shmyhal also announced that the state will strengthen control over the fair distribution of electricity to ensure equal conditions for all consumers: "I have instructed the State Energy Supervision to carry out the relevant inspections."
"Due to low temperatures, Tuesday and Wednesday [February 10 and 11] will be held on a complicated schedule, just like today, despite the fact that the system is partially supported by solar generation during the day," the official added, noting that repairs in the energy sector are ongoing around the clock.
- Earlier, on January 7, some hospitals and all public transport in Lviv were temporarily cut off from electricity. The regional administration stated LIGA.net that the shutdowns were legal, as these facilities did not have the status of critical infrastructure. Instead, mayor Sadovyi said he appealed to the police.
- Eventually, the power supply was restored to the institutions, with the condition that they urgently prepare documents for obtaining the status of critical infrastructure. Read more about the situation read in the text LIGA.net.
