on January 29, repatriation activities took place – Ukraine returned home 1000 bodies (remains) of the dead. About this reported at the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

According to the Russian side, the bodies and remains belong to Ukrainian defenders. Law enforcement investigators, together with expert institutions, will identify the victims.

The Russians claimed to have received 38 bodies of their military from the Ukrainian side.

The Coordination Center noted that the reparations measures were implemented as a result of joint work of the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and other defense sector structures.

The International Committee of the Red Cross also contributed to this.

  • Prior to that, Ukraine held repatriation activities on December 19, 2025, and succeeded to return 1003 bodies of the dead Ukrainians.
