Russia launched missile attack on Ukraine overnight, several cities hit

Russia launched 18 missiles from Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers at Ukraine overnight on Monday, in a latest missile attack that left several cities hit.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi said in a statement that Russia attacked Ukraine with strategic aviation from the Murmansk region of Russia and the Caspian Sea at around 02:30.

"In total, 18 X-101/X-555 air-launched cruise missiles were launched. The air defence forces and capabilities destroyed 15 targets," Mr Zalyzhnyi added.

The military administration of Kyiv reported that all Russian missiles and drones in the area had been successfully shot down.

In the Dnipro region, an industrial enterprise in the city of Pavlohrad was hit, leaving 25 people injured, including three children, Serhii Lysak, the head of the Dnipro regional military administration, said.

"In the residential area, 19 multi-storey buildings, 25 private houses, six school and preschool education institutions and five shops were damaged," Mr Lysak posted on Telegram.

Last week, Russia launched a massive missile attack on several Ukrainian cities far from the frontline, in a first since early March.

A multi-storey residential building was hit in the city of Uman, in the central Cherkasy region, leaving 23 people dead, including six children.
