Zelensky: For Trump, there is no greater victory than stopping the war between Russia and Ukraine
For the President of the United States Donald Trump will be the biggest victory of ending Russia's war against Ukraine, President believes Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He expressed this opinion in an interview with the American magazine The Atlantic.
The Head of State said that if Trump wants to strengthen his reputation as a peacemaker and increase his chances of winning the midterm elections, he should seize this moment to put an end to Russia's war against Ukraine.
"I think there is no greater victory for Trump than to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine. For his legacy, this is a top priority," Zelensky said.
According to the president, this is also the path to success for the Republican Party in November.
"The most favorable situation for Trump is to do this [reach peace] before the midterm elections. Yes, he wants fewer casualties. But if we are talking as adults, this is just a victory for him, a political victory," Zelenskyy emphasized.
The renewal of the American parliament does not happen overnight, but gradually. Every two years, the US fully re-elects the lower house, the House of Representatives, as well as a third of the upper house, the Senate. The next midterm elections will be held in November 2026.
Currently, the Republican Party has a formal majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
