Chernov won the Director's Guild of America Award with his film 2000 Meters to Andriivka

Ukrainian Oscar-winning director Mstislav Chernov has won the 78th Director's Guild of America (DGA) Award. This is stated on the official website awards.

Chernov received the award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary Film in 2025. The Directors Guild of America honored the Ukrainian for his film 2000 Meters to Andriivka.

This was Chernov's second DGA nomination. He previously won in this category in 2023 with the documentary 20 Days in Mariupol.

Ukrainian Film Academy congratulated Chernov with the victory. They added that they are proud of the achievements of Ukrainian filmmakers.

"2000 Meters to Andriivka is a 2025 documentary film that captures the fierce fighting of the Third Separate Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during a counteroffensive near Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast, in September 23rd.

The film shows the soldiers' journey through a mined forest belt to liberate the village of Andriivka, revealing the real stories of the soldiers and the exhausting everyday life in the trenches.
