The Ukraine Democracy Defence Lend-Lease Act of 2022 has been approved in the USA today.
Here is what it means:
- The document grants the US president “enhanced authority ... to enter into agreements with the Government of Ukraine to lend or lease defence articles to that Government to protect civilian populations in Ukraine from Russian military invasion, and for other purposes”.
- The White House is obliged to establish expedited procedures for delivering defence articles within 60 days after the Act is enacted.
- The Lend-Lease Act enables a much faster supply of US weaponry, transport, food, and aid to Ukraine. Ukrainian defenders will thus be able to drive the Russian forces out of the country.
- Also, bear in mind that the Land-Lease Act is a token of the USA’s confidence in Ukraine’s victory over Russia.
