Callas: The composition of the Russian delegation to Abu Dhabi shows that its intentions are not serious
The presence of the military in the Russian delegation at the talks in the United Arab Emirates shows that Russia is not serious about peace. As reported by a LIGA.net correspondent, Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, made these remarks prior to the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels.
"On the Russian side, only the military is present, and they have no mandate to negotiate anything. This means that they are definitely not serious about peace. On the contrary, they are bombing Ukrainians, trying to force them to surrender through cold and explosions," she emphasized.
The official emphasized the importance of forcing Russia to engage in genuine negotiations.
"Now they are only pretending to be," she said.
Kallas also said that during the EU Council meeting, energy support for Ukraine would be discussed. She announced that Russia would be blacklisted for money laundering "because they use these funds to finance the war."
Any means of putting pressure on Russia for real negotiations is appropriate, and "Europe is moving in this direction," Kallas concluded.
