Zelenskyy ready to meet with Putin on territories and Zaporizhzhia NPP – Sybiha

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready to meet with the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to resolve the two most difficult issues of the draft US peace plan. This was stated by foreign minister Andriy Sybiha in an interview with the Yevropeiska Pravda media.
The official said that Ukraine expects to sign the 20-point plan if it is agreed upon, but noted that the most sensitive issues remain unresolved.
Sybiha confirmed that the issue is about the territories and the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
"The president is ready to meet with Putin to discuss these issues. However, Russia remains an obstacle to the peace process," the minister said.
On readiness to meet with the Russian dictator, Zelenskyy said back in May 2025.
However, such negotiations did not take place due to Moscow's position, and instead there were three meetings between the delegations of Ukraine and the Russian Federation in Istanbul.
- In December, president Zelenskyy reported that in the 20-point plan, Ukraine and the United States have disagreements about how Zaporizhzhia NPP will be managed and energy will be distributed from there after the possible end of the war.
- At the end of January, after the meetings between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States in Abu Dhabi, Zelenskyy said that the talks also addressed complex political issues that still remain unresolved. Regarding the territories, the president noted that Kyiv and Moscow had different principled positions. Russia continues to demand the withdrawal of the Defense Forces from the part of Ukraine's Donbas that it has failed to occupy.
