There is a threat that the schedules of power outages in Ukraine may become worse, and Russia is preparing for new attacks on the energy infrastructure. About reported first vice prime minister – minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal after a meeting of the specialized Headquarters.

"The situation in the energy sector remains very difficult. Unfortunately, there is a risk that the outage schedules may deteriorate. This is due to the latest strike and the fact that the generation deficit in the power system is still significant. At the same time, the Russians are preparing for new attacks on the energy sector in the coming week," the official said.

Shmyhal noted that the recovery work is ongoing in all regions. Thus, more than 230 teams are working in Kyiv, and 40 repair teams have already been engaged Natfogaz.

However, the official said that local authorities should give residents "a clear understanding of where and when heating will be restored," adding that buildings where heating cannot be restored in the near future should have electricity for at least 18 hours a day.

"We are intensifying our work with all partners to obtain power equipment. More than 30 countries are already providing support to get Ukraine through this winter," the minister summarized.

  • On the night and morning of February 3, Russia attacked Ukraine with 71 missiles of various types and 450 drones, about 430 of which were Shaheds. According to the Air Force, 38 missiles and 412 drones were shot down or suppressed by electronic warfare systems.
  • After the attack in Kyiv and Kharkiv, thousands of homes were left without heat, Odesa and Vinnytsia regions were without electricity. Under attack again were DTEK thermal power plants. Kharkiv authorities declare an emergency as a result of Russia's massive attacks – due to the destruction of energy infrastructure, almost 105,000 consumers were left without heat.
  • The next night, the occupiers continued to strike Ukraine. In particular, in Zaporizhzhia and the region, more than 50,000 consumers were cut off from electricity.
  • Meanwhile, US president Trump said that he believes Russian dictator Putin "kept his word" on a temporary suspension of strikes on Ukraine's energy sector and that it lasted from January 25 to February 1. Ukraine's ambassador to the United States said that the diplomatic mission had provided the State Department with detailed information on all the shelling that Russia carried out during the so-called energy truce.
