South Africa expels Israeli ambassador and declares him persona non grata
South Africa has declared the head of the Israeli diplomatic service in the country, Ariel Seidman, persona non grata and demanded that he leave its territory within 72 hours. About reports ministry of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa (DIRCO).
The statement said the reason for the move was allegedly "insulting attacks" on President Cyril Ramaphosa on social media and "abuse of diplomatic privileges."
The head of the diplomatic mission was also accused of allegedly failing to inform the African Foreign Ministry about the possible visits of high-ranking Israeli officials
"This decisive measure follows a series of unacceptable violations of diplomatic norms and practices that constitute a direct challenge to South Africa's sovereignty," the statement said.
The African Foreign Ministry demanded that in the future Israel ensure that its diplomats respect the country and the established principles of international cooperation.
