Trump calls Vance and Rubio "fantastic" successors, but does not rule out a third term
President of the United States Donald Trump admitted that he sees the vice president as a J.D. Vance and secretaries of state Marco Rubio his successors in the 2028 presidential election. At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility of running for a third presidential term. He said this during an interview with the NBC News.
Asked by the interviewer to name a favorite on the Republican side, Trump refused to name one candidate. He called Vance and Rubio "capable people" who are "doing a great job," noting the difference in styles.
"I have two people who are doing a great job. I don't want to argue or – I don't want to use the word 'fight,' it wouldn't be a fight. But listen, J.D. is fantastic, and Marco is fantastic," Trump said.
He added that "one is a little more diplomatic than the other," without specifying who exactly he was talking about.
When asked about a third presidential term, Trump said that it "would be interesting." However, he did not give a definitive answer, emphasizing that "I would do it for one reason only: to make America great again."
- on March 30, 2025, Trump did not rule out that will run for a third term the US president, despite the fact that the Constitution prohibits it.
- In May of the same year, the president's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr may run for the US presidency.
