Trump: I will have to sit with Zelenskyy and Putin because of their hatred
President of the United States Donald Trump said that the meeting between his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the dictator of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will have to be conducted in a trilateral format with his participation. The US leader said this during a conversation with journalists, which was broadcasted by Bloomberg.
Trump was asked whether, after a month since his meeting with Putin in Alaska, the president believes that the summit has produced the results he had hoped for.
"Yeah, it accomplished a lot, but it takes two to tango. You know, these are two people, Zelenskyy and Putin, who hate each other. And it looks like I have to sit in the room with them because they can't sit in the same room together. There's a lot of hatred between them, but no, this meeting [in Alaska] accomplished a lot," replied the head of the US.
He also reiterated that Zelenskyy "will have to make a deal" and that Europe should stop buying Russian oil, reports the White House with reference to the Fox News channel.
- Earlier, President Zelenskyy said Putin used the Alaska summit to exploit the to get out of political isolation and avoid sanctions.
- The Ukrainian leader also spoke about the need for new US sanctions and emphasized that Trump has enough power to make the Russian dictator afraid of him.
