Trump says he will send Patriot missiles to Ukraine. According to Axios, he may also give offensive weapons
The United States will supply Ukraine with Patriot systems as they are necessary for the country's defense. This was stated to journalists by US President Donald Trump at Joint Base Andrews on July 13, reports Reuters.
Trump did not name the exact number of systems, but emphasized that the European Union would reimburse the United States for their cost.
"We are going to send them Patriots, which they desperately need, because Putin has really surprised a lot of people... In fact, we are going to supply them with various models of very sophisticated military equipment. They will pay us 100% for it, and that's what we want," the president said .
He also noted that he is increasingly disappointed in Russia's dictator Vladimir Putin, who does not stop attacking Ukraine.
"He speaks beautifully, and then in the evening he bombs everyone. But there's a little problem here. I don't like it," Trump said.
According to Axios, he is also expected to announce an "aggressive" military aid plan for Ukraine on July 14. This was reported by two people familiar with the plans. The package is expected to include offensive weapons.
According to the interlocutors, they have reason to believe that the package may also include long-range missiles capable of hitting targets deep in Russia, including Moscow.
"Trump is very angry with Putin. His statement tomorrow will be very aggressive," Senator Lindsey Graham told Axios.
During a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump said Putin "wants to take everything," a person with knowledge of the matter said.
