US Ambassador to NATO: Ukraine should not be afraid of new problems with arms supplies
The US expects Europeans to pay for military aid to Ukraine. Kyiv should not fear new arms shortages, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said, speaking to journalists at NATO headquarters, reports Yahoo Finance.
He expects that the volume of military aid will not change. The United States plans to sell the equipment produced to its allies, who will provide it to Ukraine. NATO will coordinate the process.
Vitaker said that Europe will now contribute to defense support for Ukraine on a par with the United States.
"The only thing that will change is that the US now expects Europeans to pay for military aid. The US wants an equal contribution," he said .
Regarding the supply of Patriot missile systems to Ukraine, the US Ambassador noted that this issue is being discussed "at a high level".
- on July 15, the head of the German Defense Ministry said that Germany and the United States will decide to send two Patriot systems to Ukraine within a few days or weeks. Each system includes six launchers, as well as radars and control systems.
- The deputy head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine stated, that it is realistic for Ukraine to receive 17 launchers for Patriot air defense systems under a new US-NATO agreement.
- The head of US European Command and Supreme Allied Commander Europe said that is working to deliver Patriot to Ukraine as soon as possible.
