Zelensky on the deployment of US troops in Ukraine: Only Trump can confirm, but Ukraine would like to
President considers deployment of US troops in Ukraine a strong guarantee of security
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with journalists commented on the statement of the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk about the alleged readiness of the United States to deploy its troops in Ukraine as part of security guarantees. He cannot confirm this information.
"This can be confirmed, to be honest, by the President of the United States of America. These are US troops and it is America that makes such decisions," Zelenskyy said.
He noted that this issue was discussed with both US President Donald Trump himself and representatives of the "coalition of the willing." Ukraine would like to see this happen.
"This would be a strong position in security guarantees," the president emphasized.
- on December 30, Tusk said that the United States was allegedly ready send their troops to Ukraine after peace is achieved and deploy them on the border or on the line of contact between Ukraine and Russia.
- Before that, on December 29, Zelenskyy reported that Trump confirmed strong security guarantees for Ukraine. Congress will vote on them.
