The cessation of strikes on energy facilities is an initiative of the American side and personally of US President Donald Trump, and Ukraine will act in a mirror image of Russia in this matter. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with media representatives on January 29, according to a correspondent of LIGA.net .

Zelensky emphasizes that Ukraine sees this as "an opportunity, not an agreement".

"And whether it will work or not, and what will work, I cannot tell you yet <…> We have no official ceasefire agreement <…> If Russia heard the signal from the American side as we did, then we will probably have some result and will be able to evaluate it," he said.

The President emphasized that there was no direct dialogue and no direct agreements between Ukraine and Russia on this issue.

According to him, at the meeting in Abu Dhabi, the Americans said they wanted to raise the issue of de-escalation – to demonstrate certain steps on both sides to avoid using long-range capabilities to provide more space for diplomacy.

"Our negotiating team called me to consult. I said that we would take a mirror attitude to such steps. In any case, we want to end the war and we are ready for de-escalation steps. If Russia does not attack us, we will not take reciprocal steps. That's all, and we have already talked about this principle before," the president said .
