A car exploded in Odesa while a man was sitting inside. The driver survived, but was injured, reported in the National Police.

Law enforcement officers received a report of an explosion of an Opel car in the Kyiv district on Varnenska Street around 10:00. The investigative team and explosive experts arrived at the scene.

According to preliminary information, a man inside the vehicle was injured. He is being provided with medical assistance .

According to eyewitnesses, as reported by Dumskaya, the man may be a military officer. However, in a comment to LIGA.net , a law enforcement source said that this is not officially known, but it is most likely not true.

UPDATED at 14:20. The Security Service of Ukraine in Odesa region has classified the incident as an attempted terrorist attack and has already opened a criminal investigation. The circumstances of the explosion and the persons involved are being established.
