Russia has attacked a passenger train in Kharkiv region "Barvinkove – Lviv – Chop" with drones, hitting a carriage with passengers. About this reported minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba і head regional military administration Oleg Sinegubov.

The train was attacked in the Barvinkivska community – the Russians sent three "cheheda" rockets that hit the locomotive and a passenger car, which caught fire. There were 291 passengers on the train, and people were quickly evacuated.

As of 5:20 p.m., two wounded were reported: they were taken out by the train crew and handed over to an ambulance. Both were hospitalized. Rescuers and the team of Ukrzaliznytsia.

Backup buses are being organized for evacuated passengers, as well as for those waiting at the stations for the return flight.

"The attack on the passenger train is a direct act of Russian terror against civilians. There is no military purpose," Kuleba emphasized.

UPDATED at 20:50. The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported that three people were killed in an attack on a train near the village of Yazykove. A man and a woman sought medical attention.

The enemy used three strike drones, previously thought to be of the "Geran-2" type. Two hits were recorded near the train, and one hit a carriage. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the fact of committing a war crime that caused the deaths of people.

UPDATED at 21:35. The death toll has risen to four people, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported. There were 18 passengers in the damaged carriage. Rescuers are currently searching for four more people at the scene of the attack.

He stressed that in any country, a drone strike on a civilian train would be considered exclusively as terrorism. And Russia must answer for what it is doing.

"The Russians have significantly increased the ability to kill, the ability to terrorize. They are investing in the progress of terror. And our job – and this is what should unite all normal people in the world – is to ensure progress in protecting life. This is possible thanks to pressure on Russia and punishing Russia for what it is doing," Zelensky noted.

UPDATED at 10:05 p.m. According to the prosecutor's office, fragments of five bodies were found at the scene of the attack. Identification of the dead will be possible after DNA testing.

However, the Ministry of Internal Affairs later noted that rescuers had found the bodies of four victims and fragments of other bodies. The exact number of victims will be determined after examinations.
