A Russian Mi-8 helicopter that went missing on July 14 is found crashed in Khabarovsk Krai. Five people on board were preliminarily killed, Russian law enforcement officials say .
The search for the helicopter lasted for two days, and on July 16 in the morning, the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor's Office reported that the wreckage was found 122 km from the village of Okhotsk.
It is noted that the helicopter took off from Okhotsk to Magadan on July 14, but the crew did not get in touch at the scheduled time. On the same day, an An-26 airplane from Magadan and a Mi-8 helicopter from Okhotsk were sent to search for him, but the operation was suspended due to bad weather.
Landing near the helicopter wreckage is impossible.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry said that no one survived the crash, and the Investigative Committee reported that five bodies had been found near the crash site of the Mi-8.
The Magadan Transport Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into compliance with the requirements of the legislation on flight safety and air navigation support. They will also check the company AIC Zlith LLC, which owned the helicopter.
