RMF 24: On the border of Poland and Belarus, a migrant attacked a border guard, who shot him

In Poland, an immigrant attacked a border guard while trying to illegally cross the border from Belarus. This was reported by RMF 24.

on July 10, three immigrants near the town of Michalowo (Podlaskie Voivodeship) tried to cross the river to Poland. When they saw a Polish border patrol, two of them turned around, and the third tried to continue the journey.

According to the border guards, the Afghan man was behaving aggressively and even attacked one of them – he was not seriously injured. Polish soldiers fired several times in his direction with a smooth-bore weapon with rubber bullets and allegedly hit him with the butt of the weapon.

The prosecutor's office in Białystok-Pulność has launched an investigation to determine whether the border guard exceeded his authority. And military police are investigating the attack on the Pole.

According to unofficial information from RMF 24, the immigrant survived, but suffered head injuries. After hospitalization, he was transferred to a center for foreigners.

• In April, 250 attempts to illegally cross the border from Belarus were recorded in Poland in four days. Stones were thrown at Polish patrols.
