Last year, the number of incidents involving drones at UK military bases doubled, prompting the government to give its forces more powers to protect facilities from new threats. This was reported by the agency Reuters.

In 2025, 266 incidents involving UAVs near defense installations in the UK were reported, compared to 126 incidents in 2024. London sees this as a trend of interference in European airspace.

"The doubling of the number of intruder drones near military installations in the UK over the past year highlights the changing nature of the threats we face," said the UK Defense Secretary John Healy on Monday.

Unidentified drones have also been spotted in other European countries. Experts claim that these incidents had all the hallmarks of Russian interference, but Moscow denies it.

Gili said that military officers would be given new powers to destroy drones found near defense installations. Previously, this required police involvement.

According to the innovations, the military will be able to destroy ground-based drones and UAVs operating underwater.

  • On December 4, 2025, it was reported that during the arrival of Zelenskyy on December 1, four unidentified military-style drones violated the no-fly zone and flew in the direction his plane had previously been traveling.
  • The OP confirmed the incident and noted that it did not affect for the visit and did not make me change anything.
