The leadership of the Russian aggressor country is not ready for real peace talks and is stalling for time, said deputy head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SZR) Oleh Luhovskyi. He told about this in an interview with state agency Ukrinform.

"Our data shows that today the Kremlin elite is not ready for real negotiations to end the war, and the Russians are implementing a strategy of delaying time," the official said.

According to Luhovskyi, the Russian leadership believes that through an offensive at the front and blackouts in the rear, Russia will be able to break Ukrainians and thus achieve its goal.

The official also said that Moscow has several "red lines" in the negotiations and that they are "adjusted from time to time."

"For them, Ukraine's non-membership in security alliances and the absence of foreign military contingents on our territory are fundamental," said the deputy head of the SZR.

However, he added, the occupiers can define new "red lines" at any time to slow down the negotiation process.

  • On January 23-24, trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States took place in the UAE. On the first day, the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Umerov, stated that the talks were dedicated to parameters of the end of the Russian war and the "further logic of the negotiation process" to move toward a "decent and lasting peace."
