Lavrov was lied to about "torture" of Russian prisoners and "secret prisons"

Russia continues to spread disinformation about alleged cases of "torture" of Russians in Ukrainian captivity. The Center for Countering Disinformation reported, that Ukraine openly cooperates with international organizations, unlike Russia.
The CPJ cited the words of the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rodion Miroshnik, about the alleged torture of occupation prisoners "in secret prisons". His statement contained clichés typical of Russian propaganda about "electric chairs," "amputations," and "dog baiting." However, the Russian representative did not provide any evidence.
"All accusations of 'torture' are based on the words of exchanged Russian prisoners, whose physical condition raises doubts about the veracity of their testimony," the Center noted .
The Center explained that the purpose of such statements is to shift the blame for war crimes from the aggressor to the victim and to create an information screen around new evidence of Russia's crimes.
At the same time, the United Nations records new cases of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war, reports torture, beatings, electric shocks, sexual violence and humiliation in Russian prisons.
"Ukraine openly cooperates with international organizations, while Russia blocks access and conceals the conditions of detention of prisoners," the Center emphasized .
- on June 10, the GUR confirmed that the photo of a Ukrainian prisoner with "Glory to Russia" burned on his body was genuine. According to an intelligence official, 90% of Ukrainians released from Russian captivity testify to some form of detention violations.
- On June 25, PACE called on Russia to continue the exchange of prisoners "all for all" with Ukraine. The resolution was supported by 88 deputies at the session on June 24.
