After a new major Russian attack on the night of January 24, hundreds of thousands of Kyiv subscribers were left without electricity. During another massive attack, the occupants targeted energy, heating and other civilian infrastructure in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and other regions, the official noted.

"The enemy's constant attacks, unfortunately, do not allow us to stabilize the situation [with electricity]. The power system does not have time to recover. More than 800,000 customers are without electricity in the capital due to emergency outages. The power shortage persists. We are working with our partners to reduce it," said Shmyhal.

"The aid has been delivered to power engineers in Kyiv and the region, Sumy, Kharkiv and other regions. We plan to transfer some of the generators from international partners to the SES heating stations to provide people with electricity during the blackouts. We are expecting additional equipment from Slovakia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Azerbaijan, Italy, Latvia, and Poland," the official said.
