Power supply restored in Ukraine after power grid failure – Shmyhal

Power engineers have restored electricity supply in all regions of Ukraine after a systemic failure on the morning of January 31. About this reported minister of Energy Denis Shmyhal.

"All regions are returning to the planned schedules, high-voltage lines and substations are operating as usual. Power engineers worked as quickly as possible," the statement said.

According to Shmyhal, the accident was caused by icing on the lines and equipment. The versions of a cyberattack or external interference have not been confirmed.

He specified that in the morning there were two accidents on high-voltage lines within a minute's interval, which caused cascading blackouts in seven regions. The most difficult situation was in the north, in the center of the country and in Odesa region.

In Kyiv, 64 crews are working to restore power supply and 220 crews are working to restore heating. The work will continue at night.
