On Friday, January 30, the U.S. Department of Justice published a new and final version of a package of materials containing documents, photos and videos related to the case of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This was reported by the agency Reuters.

The files were published in connection with a law passed in November 2025 that requires all documents related to a sex offender to be made public.

US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch said that the huge package of files released on Friday marked the end of the US administration's planned Donald Trump publicizing.

The new archive contains more than 3 million pages, 2,000 videos and 180,000 images, he said.

The official clarified that the documents contain "significant" redactions, including exceptions to the law that allow for the blacking out of information about victims or material related to ongoing investigations. Previous releases were heavily redacted, drawing criticism from some members of Congress.

The media noted that Trump, who had been friends with Epstein in the 1990s and early 2000s before they fell out a few years before Epstein's first arrest, resisted any publication for several months until Democrats and Republicans in Congress forced him to do so by pushing through legislation.

Trump has not been officially charged with any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein. But the scandal has been following him for months, in part because he promised to release the files during his 2024 presidential campaign.

It is not yet clear how many of the newly released documents contain references to Trump. The first major publication by the Department of Justice in December contained few references to the American president.

In a press release announcing the release of the files on Friday, the US Department of Justice wrote: "Some of the documents contain false and sensationalized allegations against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI just before the 2020 election. It should be noted that these allegations are unfounded and false, and if they had any truth to them, they would have been used as a weapon against President Trump."

TV company CNN writes that documents released on January 30 contain references to Trump, billionaire Elon Musk and 42nd US President Bill Clinton. According to the documents, Musk exchanged emails with Epstein to coordinate a trip to one of the financier's Caribbean islands. The emails are dated 2012 and 2013.

The journalists noted that it was unclear from the correspondence whether Musk had visited Epstein's island.

Musk's representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the letters. However, this correspondence shows a level of communication between them that has not been previously disclosed. The businessman has previously tried to smear his opponents by linking them to Epstein.

Epstein, a New York-based financier with ties to prominent political and business figures, was found hanging in his prison cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of human trafficking for sexual exploitation. Although his death was ruled a suicide, it sparked numerous conspiracy theories.

  • November 18, 2025 U.S. House of Representatives supported the publication of the Epstein files. "427 members of the lower house of the U.S. parliament voted in favor.
  • November 20, Trump signed the law on the publication of materials in the Epstein case.
