Russia launched another missile attack on Ukraine overnight on Tuesday, when it marks its Victory Day related to the events of World War Two.

Late on Monday, Russia fired eight Kalibr cruise missiles from carriers in the Black Sea targeting eastern Ukraine, with all of them destroyed by air defence forces, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a statement.

Another wave of Russia’s missile attacks took place at around 04:00 am on Tuesday, when 17 X-101/X-555 air-launched cruise missiles were launched from strategic aircraft in the Caspian Sea region.

Ukraine’s air defence destroyed 15 missiles, the General Staff said.

In Kyiv, debris fell in two districts, with no major destruction or casualties reported. Explosions were also reported in the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions overnight on Tuesday.

Russia has resumed massive air attacks in recent weeks as Ukraine gears up for a planned counteroffensive.

In one of the deadliest strikes so far, 23 Ukrainians were killed and fifty wounded in Kherson and the Kherson region last week.
