EU agrees on purchase of ammunition for Ukraine for 1 billion euros

The ambassadors of the EU member states have adopted a decision regarding the scheme of joint procurement of ammunition for Ukraine, announced the official Twitter page of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU.

"The EU Ambassadors approved decision on assistance measure under the European Peace Facility to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces through 1 billion euros for joint procurement of ammunition and missiles," the message reads.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, noted that the EU member states will "immediately" send 1 billion euros worth of ammunition from their warehouses, and the European Union will allocate the same amount for joint further purchases for Ukraine.

REFERENCE. On March 20, 2023, the European Union agreed on a plan to purchase ammunition for Ukraine for 2 billion euros. It was reported that EU defense ministers agreed to provide Ukraine with 1 million artillery rounds.
