Czechs to protest in support of Pavel amid his conflict with the Foreign Minister

On Sunday, February 1, a rally supporting the Czech President will be held in Prague Petr Pavel amid his conflict with Foreign Minister Peter Macinka. This was reported by the media iDNES.
The event is organized by the organization Million Minutes. It will take place at 15:00 local time (16:00 Kyiv time) on Staromysl and Vatslavska squares.
The Czech president thanked them in advance for the great interest in the demonstration, which will be controlled by dozens of police officers. Pavel said that one of the very positive advantages of the Czech Republic is "the strength and quality of civil society, which is able to stand up for the right things at the right time in a clear and understandable way."
"I highly appreciate everyone who does not remain indifferent to what is happening around them and feels a share of responsibility for the state of affairs in our country. I appreciate everyone who is ready to join the defense of decency, truth, solidarity and respect for each other," he added.
Initially, the event was to take place only on Old Town Square, but on Saturday the organizer announced that due to the huge interest, two large screens would be installed in the lower part of Wenceslas Square.
"We are preparing standard measures, as we do for every announced assembly, dozens of police officers will be on site," said Jan Danek, a spokesman for the Prague police.
He added that law enforcement officers are also preparing for the possibility that more people will come than both locations can accommodate. The demonstration will not disrupt traffic and will be limited to only two squares, Danek said.
The organizers believe that 30,000 to 50,000 people from all over the country will take part in the rally in Prague.
- On January 27, 2026, Pawel announced that the head of the Automobilists party and Foreign Minister Macinka tries to blackmail him about the appointment of the Minister of Environmental Protection. The foreign minister replied that he was not blackmailing him but negotiating.
- Czech Prime Minister Babiš declared his desire to reconcile the Minister and the president of the country.
