Rada security committee member on "Pentagon leak": ideal way to spread disinformation
Serhii Rakhmanin, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, said that the Pentagon's intelligence "leak" includes both true and falsified data, which can serve as part of a disinformation campaign, he told Radio Svoboda.
According to the MP, part of the published information "corresponds to reality". However, some of the data looks like "targeted misinformation".
"I think that at some stage they just decided to create [disinformation], and I think that this is what our enemies decided to do. This is the best way to create disinformation: take part of the true information, mix it with false information in order to make it more difficult to [separate]," said Rakhmanin.
According to the parliamentarian, it could be an accidental leak. Such "dumps" happen when a very large number of people have access to the information, he noted.
Rakhmanin added that there were no secrets in the published documents that would allow "to delve into the details of the planned counteroffensive of the Armed Forces."
