On January 27, Russians killed two civilians with drones near the temporarily occupied village of Hrabovske, Sumy region. About this reported 14th Army Corps.

According to the military, the man and woman were trying to leave the occupied territory on their own to get to safety, and their route was known to Ukrainian defenders who were coordinating the evacuation of civilians.

"Russian FPV drone operators deliberately and purposefully attacked unarmed civilians. The first strike was on a woman, resulting in her instant death. The second strike was on a wounded man who was near the body of the deceased," the statement said.

The corps emphasized that the incident was recorded on video by Ukrainian defenders: it proves that there are no military objects or persons in the area of the attack, and also shows that the victims were not wearing military uniforms, were moving slowly and using sledges for transportation, which clearly identifies them as civilians.

Earlier video of Russians killing civilians published TSN journalist Yulia Kyriyenko (the recording contains sensitive footage, 18+).

The occupiers' actions bear all the hallmarks of a targeted killing of civilians, which is a gross violation of international humanitarian law, and the military called on international organizations to record this war, urgently investigate it, and bring the perpetrators to justice.

"This is not an isolated case. The systematic use of FPV drones and other means of destruction against civilians trying to leave the occupied territories became part of Russian tactics in the Sumy direction in 2025-2026," the corps noted.

  • Hrabovske is a village on the border of Sumy region, which Russians occupied at the end of December 2025 and illegally removed 52 people from it.
  • In the same month, the head of the military administration stated that 4000 inhabitants refuse to leave from the border area.
