President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Mykhailo Brodovych as Ukraine's diplomatic representative in Georgia. The relevant decree appeared on the leader's website.

Zelenskyy appointed Brodovych ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Georgia.

The previous representative of Ukraine in this country, the president dismissed back in June 2022. Since then, the country has been represented by charge d'affaires, the last of whom was Roman Yakovenko.

Brodovych started working as a diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996.

Prior to his appointment to Georgia, he served as Ukraine's Ambassador to Slovenia from 2015 to 2022.

  • Georgia is ruled by the pro-Russian Georgian Dream party, which carries out repression of the opposition, as well as forcibly dispersed rallies against it.
  • In September 2024, Ukraine withdrew Kharyshin, the then chargé d'affaires in Georgia. The country's pro-Russian prime minister claimed that this was due to the purchase of washing machines, which was perceived as inadequate during the war.
