Two Patriot systems stand to protect Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure

Two Patriot air defense systems provided by Germany have been put into service in Ukraine. About reported Ministry of Defense.

Air defense missile systems have been deployed to protect Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure. This was achieved through recent agreements with the German government.

The Ministry of Defense reminded that Patriot is an American-made air defense system. It is one of the most advanced air defense systems in the world, designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles. The Patriot is capable of shooting down high-speed and complex targets, providing multi-layered protection for strategic sites and large cities.

The agency cited several advantages of the complexes:

→ versatility. The system destroys various aerodynamic and ballistic targets, including hypersonic ones. Patriot missiles engage Russian hypersonic missiles Tsirkon and Kinzhal, which reach speeds of up to 11,000 and 16,000 km/h, respectively;

→ high efficiency. Patriot's ultra-precise radar uses technologies that allow simultaneous detection and tracking of various targets. The system's missiles are highly accurate and hit targets with direct fire, which is important for countering ballistic missiles;

→ multitasking. One Patriot battery can simultaneously detect up to 100 targets and track up to eight targets;

→ automaticity. The ability to operate in automatic mode allows Patriot to respond instantly to threats, which is important for intercepting hypersonic missiles;

→ range and altitude. Patriot hits air targets at altitudes up to 24 km and distances up to 160 km, covering large areas.
