Ukraine's southwestern neighbor joins the PURL program
Romania has become another country that has joined the PURL initiative to purchase American weapons for Ukraine. This was reported in the social network X announced minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Tsoyu.
According to her, the Romanian government has approved the allocation of 50 million euros for the purchase of US weapons for further transfer to Ukraine.
"Allocations for PURL are made in accordance with the budget ceiling for 2025," said Tsoyu.
The minister is convinced that Romania's contribution to the PURL will contribute to achieving lasting peace by strengthening Ukraine's capabilities and regional security and is fully in line with Romania's NATO commitments.
According to the Romanian Foreign Minister, thanks to the efforts of the US President Donald Trump, European leaders and the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy the recent dialogue in the United States has given new impetus to achieving a just and lasting peace.
She added that Romania contributes to the European and allied diplomatic dialogue, as well as to joint efforts aimed at creating significant security guarantees for both Ukraine and the region.
- On December 5, Sibiga reported that 21 countries have already joined to the PURL program, the total amount of commitments reached $4.18 billion.
- On December 11, Zelenskyy said that expects next year for weapons worth $15-16 billion as part of the PURL initiative.
