He took a resident of Kupyansk hostage and threatened to kill her. The captured Russian was served a notice of suspicion

A Russian prisoner of war is suspected of taking a resident of Kupyansk, Kharkiv region, hostage and threatening to kill her. About this said Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The suspect is a 54-year-old soldier of the military unit No. 50183, a rifleman of the 121st motorized rifle regiment of the 68th motorized rifle division of the Sixth Army of the Russian Armed Forces. He is charged with cruel treatment of civilians.

According to the investigation, he participated in an attempt to re-occupy Kupiansk in September 2025. He entered the building of the local police department, where he set up a firing position on the fourth floor.

One day, the occupier noticed two local women aged 55 and 60 on the street. The Russian military, threatening them with a weapon, forced one of them to come up to him. The other woman stayed outside.

First, the occupier interrogated the woman, then ordered her to shout out of the window to her friend to bring him food, and in case of refusal, he threatened to kill her.

The woman was forced to go home for food, while the detainee remained in the building. When the food was brought, the occupier re-arranged the interrogation.

After learning the women's addresses, the Russian released them, but set a condition: they had to bring him food again in a week. In case of non-compliance, he promised to come to their homes and shoot them.

On the appointed day, the women, fearing reprisals, gathered food and came to the building. However, by that time, the Russian shooter had already been captured.

The suspect is being held in a pre-trial detention center as a prisoner of war.
