Around 02:00, the police received a report that a "Z" symbol had been painted on a column of the parliament building in Tallinn. An employee of the Riigikogu security service detained the alleged offender on the spot. He was a 32-year-old Estonian citizen.
According to Kadri Ann Salla, the operational head of the Pihya prefecture, the police have opened proceedings on a case of violations under the article of the Penitentiary Code on support and justification of an international crime.

Following the incident, police patrols also checked other government buildings and several embassies, but no hate symbols were found.
