EU to invest in new cables and countering Russia's shadow fleet – Callas

Damage to critical cables in the Baltic Sea is forcing Europe to strengthen infrastructure protection. This was written in the social network X high Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas.

"Since the beginning of the war with Russia in the Baltic Sea, there has been a clear trend of disruption of Europe's critical infrastructure," Kaja Kallas said.

She also thanked Finland for its prompt and decisive actions to seize the vessel and crew suspected of damaging submarine cables.

"The EU will continue to strengthen its critical infrastructure, in particular by investing in new cables, enhancing surveillance, providing more repair capacity and acting against Moscow's 'shadow fleet', which also serves as a springboard for hybrid attacks," she added.
