Japan is planning to join PURL, a NATO initiative to supply Ukraine with US-made ammunition and equipment. This was reported by the Japanese broadcaster NHK, citing several unnamed officials.

According to NHK's sources, Japan is expected to officially announce its plan to participate in the initiative soon.

Officials said Japan would provide funding only for non-lethal defense equipment, possibly including radar systems and body armor.

According to them, Japan has already informed several NATO members and Ukraine about this plan.

One NATO official said that even non-lethal equipment is important for Ukraine, adding that Japan's participation in this initiative is a significant step.
